It is important to familiarize yourself with this policy prior to reserving a yacht. When you reserve a yacht with EvenHandedCommons, you accept and agree to the refund conditions outlined herein.
Standard Cancellation and Refund Schedule
More than 72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Complete refund excluding transaction fees
Processing Time: 5-7 business days
Processing Fee: $50 for card transactions
Conditions: Must be asked for in written form through email or telephone
24-72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Half of the entire cost of the charter
Processing Time: 7-10 business days
Processing Fee: $25 subtracted from the refund
Conditions: A valid reason is needed; administrative charges will apply
Less than 24 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: No refund possibilities
Exception: Situations of urgency may be taken into account
Alternative: Credit for a future charter might be offered at the discretion of the management
Conditions: Emergency claims require appropriate documentation
Weather-Related Cancellations
Our Weather Guarantee
Our highest concern is safety. If our certified captain deems weather conditions as unsafe for sailing, we offer several options:
- Full Refund: If it's not feasible to reschedule, a complete refund is offered
- Reschedule: You can change your booking to another available date, free of any extra charge
- Charter Credit: A credit that you can use for 12 months from the original booking date
Weather Assessment Process
Our weather evaluation consists of:
- Analyzing wind speed and direction
- Assessing wave height and sea state
- Forecasting visibility and precipitation
- Adhering to Coast Guard advisories and warnings
- A professional safety check by the captain
Decision Timeline: The call to cancel due to weather is made at least 4 hours before the yacht is supposed to leave.
Medical Emergency Refunds
Emergency Circumstances
We are sympathetic to medical crises that may unexpectedly arise. The situations below may be eligible for special exemption:
- Sudden medical condition or injury that necessitates hospital care
- Passing of a close relative
- Unexpected military duty
- Summons for jury duty or a court order
- Natural calamities impacting travel
Documentation Standards
For consideration of a medical emergency refund, the following is required:
- A medical statement or hospital records
- A death certificate, if relevant
- Verification of military orders
- A court subpoena or jury duty notice
- Notices regarding travel issued by authorities
Processing: Refunds due to an emergency are handled within 3-5 business days after the necessary documents are submitted.
Operational Cancellations
Mechanical Difficulties
If the yacht allocated to you is hindered by technical problems that cannot be quickly resolved:
- Alternate Vessel: We will strive to offer a similar replacement yacht
- Full Refund: If no substitute is procurable
- Partial Refund: If the alternative yacht varies in cost
- Compensation: Additional reparation may be extended for the inconvenience
Crew Unavailability
On uncommon occasions where a certified crew member is unavailable:
- We will arrange for a different crew if possible
- A full refund is offered if the charter is not feasible
- Options to reschedule without additional charges
Refund Processing
Payment Modalities
Refunds are returned using the original mode of payment:
- Credit Cards: 5-7 business days
- Bank Transfers: 7-10 business days
- Cash/Cheque: 3-5 business days

Credit Card Handling
$50 fee for cancellations with more than 72 hours notice
Bank Transfer Handling
$25 fee for all bank transfer reimbursements
International Operations
Extra fees may be incurred for transactions beyond national borders
Charter Credits
Occasions for Credit Issuance
In certain scenarios, charter credits may be presented as an alternative to repayment:
- Cancellations close to the charter date (under 24 hours)
- Cancellations due to weather
- Voluntary requests for rescheduling
- Operational interruptions
Credit Specifications
- Validity: Credits are active for a year from the issue date
- Transferability: Credits are strictly non-exchangeable
- Value: Credits equal the full charter price without deduction for transaction fees
- Usage: Applicable to any future available charter bookings
- Expiry: Credits are void if not used within the year
Partial Service Refunds
Service Disruptions
If your yacht trip is interrupted or cut short due to factors within our control:
- Reimbursement proportional to the unused duration
- A voucher for a similar future yacht trip
- Free additional services or upgrades
Interruptions Caused by Guests
If a charter is concluded early because of the behavior or security breaches of the guests:
- No repayment for the time not used
- Total payment remains obligatory
- Extra fees may be levied
Dispute Resolution
Should you contest a refund decision, you may:
- Seek an analysis by our company's management
- Offer additional proof or documents
- Look for a solution through consumer rights organizations
- Exercise legal courses of action as allowed by law
